Nap Time

Gavin has gotten really good at going down for his naps. I turn on his metallica lullaby cd, make sure he has 5 pacifiers and turn out the lights. He usually plays for a few minutes and then falls asleep. I have to go in a few times to lay him back down since he likes to stand up, but he eventually gets tired and falls asleep. I went in one day to make sure he was sleeping and this is what I found. I guess he was in the process of standing up again and just fell asleep right in the middle. Precious boy :)

Blog Stalker

So, I was never really into this blog thing until Gavin was around 4 months old. I had heard the word "blog", but never really read any. Around October of last year my good friend Courtney sent me the link to one of her good friends blogs. She told me that she had just had a baby too and wrote the best stories of her life with her boys. Once I started reading, I was hooked! This girl was living my life, with a few minor exceptions. Turns out her son and Gavin were born 5 days apart. This blog truly kept me going through some pretty rough times. As any new mother knows, there are days when you think you're not going to make it, or days when you think you are not cut out to be a mom, and then you have the days when you know this is what you were meant to do. It felt so good to know that there was someone out there going through exactly what I was at the exact same time. It's so funny because I would show Gabriel this blog and he would make fun of me and call me the "blog stalker". I was finally able to meet this wonderful family last weekend at Courtney's wedding. I told them of my "blog stalking" tendencies and lucky for me they understood and no authorities were needed. Thank you Andrea for your wonderful blog. Here's to you Texas Macks!

8 months old

Gavin is 8 months old! Wow, I can't believe how the last 8 months have flown by. There were times that I thought I would never get this far, but we made it. Gavin is pure joy! He has started to crawl in his own unique way. It looks more like "the worm", but nonetheless he gets where he needs to go. He is into EVERYTHING! We have to watch him constantly. The pack and play has officially been turned into his playpen. We have also started him on a lot of "adult" food. He loves avocado and fresh fruit. I gave him fideo this week and he absolutely loves it. This boy is definitely like his daddy. He smiles all the time and looks at the world with absolute awe and wonder. I am truly living life through his beautiful eyes. A wise person wrote, "when you become a mom, you actually stop to smell the roses because your child is in your arms." This couldn't be more true. Gabriel and I are blessed beyond belief with this little boy.
