The Little Gym

Gavin is almost 11 months old. He is super active and super inquisitive. I think he gets bored in our small living room, that has now become his playroom. I am constantly trying new things to keep him entertained. A friend of mine told me about The Little Gym so Gavin and I decided to try it out last week. The little gym is basically a gym for little people. The classes are set up by age and they are 45 minutes long. There is a teacher and the class is broken up into sections. They focus on motor skills with some gymnastics, singing and bubbles thrown in. It is a parent/child class so the mom or dad are right there with them. Gavin loved it! Once he saw this huge room with lots of gadgets he took off. I couldn't keep his attention on one activity, he wanted to do everything all at once. The class wore him out. I think the interaction was good for him. I am pretty sure we will be signing him up for the summer session. Little Gym here we come!

Da Da

Yes, he said it. My ears were not fooling me. All I have been waiting to hear from my precious baby boy's lips was the wonderful sound of MAMA and he said Dada. Gabe and I couldn't believe it. And he didn't say it in a low tone, he almost grunted it, which was even cuter. He must have really wanted his dada's attention. If I catch it on video I will post it and keep your fingers crossed that Mama comes soon :)

Little Swimmer

Last weekend we took Gavin swimming for the first time. We have signed him up for swim lessons beginning in June so I thought we should expose him to the pool beforehand. Gavin loves bath time so I was almost positive that he would love the swimming pool. He did! A slight cold front had come in last weekend after a much needed rain so the pool was a bit too cold. We heated up the sauna part and were able to get into some warm water. Gavin was a pro. He laughed the whole time and kept trying to drink the water. We even went under water a few times and he loved it. I think he is going to do great with the swim lessons. Here are some great pictures of our "water baby".

Our first Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day was absolutely perfect. We started the day with our traditional "pancake sunday" feast. Gavin got so sticky that daddy had to bathe him immediately following. We then headed to Floresville where we got to spend some time with Gavin's grandma, great grandma, aunts and cousins. We also got to listen to some fantastic "live" mariachi music. Gavin loved it! He sat so still on his great grandma's lap. I think we have a musician in our future :) We then headed to my dad's house to see my step mom and my grandma. After a short visit there it was time to finally go and visit my mom. We finished the evening off at my Aunt Terry's house where Gavin chowed down on cheesecake and strawberries. It was a fantastic first mother's day. To all the "mom's" in our lives, we love you!

It's too late Donnie, I'm already Married!

So guess what yours truly will be doing on the evening of July 17?.....I'll give you a hint...does "hanging tough" ring a bell? You got it, I will be at my second New Kids on the Block concert. I saw them in Austin when I was twelve. My dad, my stepmom and my stepsister took me. I remember it like it was yesterday. They came to SA a few months ago and I was totally bummed that I missed it and even more bummed when I found out that two of my friends went and had an absolute blast. A few weeks after that total bummer I saw them perform on GMA and literally got goosebumps. It was like I was 12 again. I'm surprised tears didn't start running down my face (yes I was one of those girls that cried at their concert). After that I swore if they came back to Texas I would be there. So, as fate would have it they are performing in Houston and Dallas in July. We chose Dallas since my very good friend, Vicky, lives there and we can crash at her apartment. Gotta save money so we can buy super huge buttons with Donnie's face on them and maybe a NKOTB pillow case (yes I had one of those too). It will be six girls total and I can't wait. We are going to have a blast. I have to break out my old tapes so I can refresh my memory with the lyrics. All I have to say is, "Donnie, here I come!"

An Evening to Remember

One of my dearest friends, Sarah, got married this past weekend. I was honored to stand beside her as one of her bridesmaids. The wedding took place in historic Castroville, Texas at a beautiful ranch. Sarah was absolutely beautiful. This was one wedding that will surely go down in the history books. My mom kept Gavin for the weekend so that Gabriel and I could really enjoy ourselves and let me tell you, we did! We had an absolute blast! Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Baine. We love you!
